(General & Specific Sections)

Non-acquisitive exhibition
  1. All entries and entry payments must be made through the Tyers Art Festival Exhibition Entry Form on the Tyers Art Festival webpage at tyersartfestival.com.au by the due date (4pm Monday 21 October 2024 AEST).
  2. There is no online exhibition in 2024.
  3. An exhibitor may enter up to the maximum number of artworks shown on the Entry Form. An entry is an individual item or a non-separable group of items (with one title and one price).
  4. Entry fee for all sections is $7 per entry. If artwork is not received, there will be no refund of the entry fee.
  5. All works must be original and not greater than three years old and not have been previously submitted.
  6. No entry shall be eligible for more than one prize (except Popular Choice Award).
  7. There will be a limit of 550 entries accepted for the Tyers Art Festival Exhibition.
  8. The different categories for judging are those listed under Artist Categories and Awards. The organising committee reserves the right to amend these without notice.
  9. Independent judges will select award winners. Judges’ decision is final. Any work exhibited by judges is not eligible for judging if in a category being judged by that judge.
  10. All exhibits will be judged, but the organisers reserve the right not to exhibit items, in which case entry fees will not be refunded.
  11. Any confusion regarding category will be resolved by the Director of the Tyers Art Festival.
  12. All entries must be for genuine sale. Value not higher than $10,000. Price nominated on entry form is deemed to be correct. Only work for Young Artists may be for exhibition only.
  13. The exhibitor must permit entries to be photographed/recorded used for print and electronic media, only for publicising the exhibition and for inclusion on the winner’s page.
  14. Each entry must be clearly marked with title, artist’s name, address and price (frame and/or glass included) on the rear of the artwork
  15. Exhibitors are responsible for insurance of works during transit to and from place of exhibition, in storage and while on exhibition. The organiser will exercise reasonable care in handling works, but will not be responsible for any loss, damage or catalogue errors.
  16. Artists are responsible for ensuring artwork is packaged appropriately for transit and storage (particularly those with glass as part of framing). Damages are the responsibility of the artist. If using a drop off point, artwork must be securely wrapped and have the artist’s name on the outside of the packaging.
  17. All art and photographic entries must be framed and provided with wire and screw eyes approx. 1/3 from top on either side.
  18. Maximum size of art, craft and photography entries is 1.2 x 1.2 metres, including frame unless by prior arrangement with the Director of the Tyers Art Festival. Heavy items may not be hung.
  19. Artwork without hanging wire will not be hung.
  20. 25% administration cost charged on sales.
  21. All sales and any delivery costs (if being delivered) are to be arranged between the purchaser and the Director of the Tyers Art Festival (or their nominee) at the purchaser’s cost.
  22. All payments for sales and prizes made via EFT by 9 December 2024. Artists must supply banking details including BSB and Account Number with entry, (must be updated annually). No cheques issued. No payments made without banking details.
  23. Where banking details are not provided by 30th November 2024, no payments will be made for awards and sold artwork.
  24. Artwork not collected after three months will become the property of the Tyers Art Festival, unless by prior arrangement.
  25. Entry MUST be received by 4pm Monday 21 October 2024 (AEST). Substitutes and amendments to admin@tyersartfestival.com.au – by 4pm Wednesday 30 October 2024 (AEST).
  26. Delivery of exhibits: EXHIBITS WILL BE RECEIVED AT TYERS HALL, MAIN RD TYERS on SUNDAY 3 NOVEMBER 2024 between 10am and 3pm. Other delivery arrangements contact admin@tyersartfestival.com.au or to listed depots as indicated on the entry form.
  27. Pre-paid Opening Night tickets are $30 each. NB: There is NO access to exhibition prior to 8pm except for Gold Partners.
  28. An Artist’s Pass is issued to each artist. This provides free entry on SATURDAY and SUNDAY only. This pass (or other ID) MUST BE PRESENTED to collect artwork. Artist Passes not collected at drop off can be collected from the Entry Desk upon proof of ID.
  29. EXHIBITS ARE TO BE COLLECTED FROM THE TYERS HALL between 4pm and 5pm on Sunday 10 November 2024. Entry for art collection will be via side entrance to the Tyers Hall. Please wait in line and artists will be escorted to their work.
  30. Artists are NOT able to wait for collection of artworks in the exhibition hall after close of exhibition at 3pm on Sunday.
  31. Artworks will be transported to depots in week commencing Monday 11 November 2024.
  32. Drawing: Medium is graphite lead pencil, colour pencil or charcoal.
  33. Young Artist Awards - conditions: (Must be U18 as at 31/12/2024). Must indicate eligibility by ticking Eligible for Young Artist.

    • Normal conditions of entry for open sections (as detailed above) apply to Young Artist Categories.
    • The Tyers Primary School Students Award is only open to current students at Tyers Primary School.
    • GLaWAC Art Award is only open to entrants of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander descent – Artist Pack (valued at approx. $300)
    • Achievement Award - $150 gift voucher from Morwell Art and Framing.
    • Traralgon and District Art Society Award – any medium, $50 and $50 Morwell Art and Framing voucher.
    • Melrossa Art Studio Scholarship - 1 terms free art lessons comprising 1 x 2 hour lesson per week for a term – up to 11 lessons.
  34. GLaWAC Art Award (Adult section) is only open to entrants of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander descent – Artist Pack (valued at approx. $300) and $200 Morwell Art & Framing Voucher. Must indicate eligibility by ticking I am of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent.
  35. Photography: All images must have been taken by the entrant. All images entered must be single capture. Images must have a photographic origin.

    By submitting her/his/their image(s) for the Tyers Art Festival - Online Exhibition, the photographer declares:

    • She/he/they is the author of the image(s) and has all rights to the intellectual property related to the work and holds the copyright for the images.
    • They have full authorization to enter the submitted image(s) and has the necessary model releases if needed for the image(s) to be shown publicly.
    • The submitted photograph(s) does not violate the rights of institutions and/or third parties, does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, and does not violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity, in particular, all persons visible in the photograph(s), and that these persons consented to the use of their image in the Tyers Art Festival Exhibition and Online Exhibition and their dissemination.
    • In the absence of such consent, the photographer assumes responsibility for all legitimate claims of these persons and institutions.

    You warrant in respect of the photographs submitted by the photographer as follows:

    • The photographer is the creator of the photograph(s), own the copyright to the photograph(s), and have the necessary approval to submit the photograph(s).
    • To the best of the photographer’s knowledge, the photograph(s) do not contain any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libellous, defamatory, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content.
    • To the best of the photographer’s knowledge, the photograph(s) do not contain any material that could constitute or encourage conduct which would be a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.

    Artistic manipulation to enhance the original image is acceptable, limited to burning, dodging, cropping, colour correction, sharpening, cloning, high dynamic range (HDR), cross processing and brightness contrast.

    Images will not include any identifying details (including name) of the photographer on the image. Images submitted with watermarks, logos, overlays or text will not be considered.

Mention the Tyers Art Festival to get a 10% discount on framing for the art festival. Drop off, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm by 2pm Wednesday 30 October 2024. Online Exhibition - Artwork Images

  • Artist Supplied Digital Photographs
    • Artists supply digital photographs of their works for inclusion in the Online Exhibition. These should conform to the supplied digital photograph specifications below. Please make sure that the relevant photograph is attached to the applicable title entry of each artwork on submission.
  • Supplied Digital Photograph Specifications
    • Format JPEG - preferably large basic setting.
    • Maximum file size 5MB.
    • Minimum size of longer side 1000 pixels.
    • Colour profile sRGB.
    • Images should be cropped to best showcase the artwork only, without stand/easel/furniture in the photograph.
    • Artist’s surname and title of artwork shown in image must be included in file name (i.e. Smith Sunny Day.jpg).

online exhibition - Copyright on Artwork Photographs

  • Artist supplied artwork photographs will have a copyright owned by the artist or the artist's photographer.
  • A great deal of care will be taken to protect the interests of the artist and their rights in the copyright of the underlying artworks.
  • The artwork photographic images will be used only for the online exhibition and promotion of the Tyers Art Festival.
  • The artwork images will always be accompanied by some text which attributes the depicted artwork to the artist.
  • The uses will include placement on the Tyers Art Festival – Online Exhibition website with size limitations outlined below and a copyright notice to browsers. The artwork images may also be used in advertising to promote the exhibition or in editorial articles which are promoting the exhibition. Any other use must be authorised by the artist.

Public Website Photograph Size Limit

The size of all photographs of artist works displayed on the public website will be limited. Artwork photographs made available to the public on the Tyers Art Festival – Online Exhibition website will not exceed 1000 pixels on any side.
